Weekend Update

One word easily describes our weekend:
Perfect!

Pepe and I rolled into town around 4 pm on Friday afternoon...
as soon as we took our exit it began to rain.
We had to cancel our appointment with Jerri, our planner, but after a quick pouting session I decided the rain wasn't going to ruin our weekend.
It stopped raining after about fifteen minutes.

Mr. P and I headed to the hotel, freshened up, grabbed a cocktail and called black cab, our favorite, to pick us up.
At 7:00pm we were at Baked and ready for our cupcake tasting.
It was spectacular.
Fanny, the lovely manager of Baked, was wonderful.
We tried 5 different varieties of cupcakes and they were all so tasty.
Our favorite?
The lemon with lemon and lime zest and a lemon custard.
Yum! Yum! Yum!
After deciding on 13 dozen cupcakes for our reception we headed off to Mercato's to meet up with the Barzees.

We enjoyed a tasty meal while listening to the fabulous tunes of the Kevin Hackler trio.
We are now very excited to have them at our Rehearsal Dinner.
They're going to be perfect!

We then headed out to Club Habana, a great little cigar bar in a 200 year old building located on Meeting Street.
This was the perfect place for us to talk the night away.

The next morning we stuffed our faces at the hotel's buffet.
The clouds cleared around noon and we were at the pool ready for what we dubbed "June fun in the Sun".
There were a few rain showers throughout the day, but this didn't stop our fun.
We had lunch and played Jenga under a covered area of the courtyard.

It was perfect.

Later we freshened up and hit the hotel bar to watch the Belmont horse race before our dinner reservations at Coast.
We actually ended our evening at Woody's in Folly Beach.
This is one of those little hole in the wall places where you end up having the best time of your life.
It was tiny, it had a juke box, and we danced our booty's off.

This was definitely one of those weekends you never want to end.
At the suggestion of a hotel employee we hit up Hominy Grill for brunch before leaving town.
It was the perfect ending to our perfect weekend.
If my mother opened a restaurant, which she should someday, I have a feeling it would look exactly like this place.

Mr. P and I both had the Huevos Rancheros special...
pinto beans, corn tortillas, yellow rice, green pork chili, and 2 eggs over medium.
I can't wait to try and recreate this recipe.

A big thanks to our friends, The Barzees, for a wonderful weekend and to Charleston for always being so good to us.

Hope you all had a wonderful first weekend of June. :D

*sorry I didn't take more pictures...
my camera was in the car, which we didn't use, for the majority of the weekend.
