A bump in the road!

When the fiancee and I decided on Magnolia Plantation we were thrilled that our new venue fee was substantially less than our original venue.
With the money saved we planned to provide transportation and also rent a tent for the evening.
I found Absolutely Charleston online and fell in love with their trolley's, one dates back to 1923! So cool!
I asked for a quote on renting 2 of their trolley's. Both the bridesmaids and groomsmen would take these out to the plantation early for pictures (how cute would the pictures on the way to Magnolia be?) and then they would return to pick up guests.
Perfect, right!? Well the quote was almost the amount we are paying for our venue. Although we'd still come in below the amount we were going to be paying for Bridgeside, it just seems ridiculous to us (maybe a little more to P than me).
I desperately want to use them! I think it would only enhance the whole experience, but am I being ridiculous?
I contacted another transportation company this morning that rents those big tour buses. If they are a MUCH better deal it may be smarter to go with this company.
What do you all think?

  1. I love this idea but if it is that expensive, I would put the money into something else.
Sure it would be a nice touch to provide transportation to guests, but nobody expects to NOT have to drive when going to a wedding.

That said, I do like this idea for transporting the bridal party because everyone is together and on time for pictures, etc. It is a great way for all of you to be together and hang out before the ceremony without having to deal with driving and traffic. I was in a wedding that did the trolley in downtown Nashville for just the wedding party and it was a blast driving around town with the bride and groom on the back and people honking! Very fun.

  3. I agree with Kathy. It's a wonderful idea! Weigh your options and see if there's something else you'd love to have too - see what's less expensive OR go with your gut! I can totally see this being a blast - plus, it adds to the ambiance! I envision cute "going to the chapel" or "just married"-like signs on the back...ohh craft project!

p.s. Yes, I know your wedding is outside and not in a chapel! :)
