fyi

What I did do on my lunch break:

Had lunch with sister.

Went to Michael's to spend 20% off coupon, that my buddy Chels' e-mailed me, on baking goods (one can never have enough sprinkles!).

Went to Verizon with sister to have her phone fixed.

Mailed mama san her mother's day gift.

What I didn't do :

Go here...

And order one of these...

Why would I?

I'm on a diet you know!

Try to prove me wrong!

All evidence has been DESTROYED!

Are you hungry?

If so this post isn't for you!

My mama san called me a few minutes ago and wanted to discuss the menu for the 'Bridal Dinner' that will take place the Friday before the wedding.
We wanted a very southern spread and with that in mind we started naming off all sorts of yummy dishes.
Here's what we have in mind...

Okay, so we're talking salad, buttermilk fried chicken strips, deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, green beans, new potatoes, squash casserole & cornbread muffins my friends!

Sound like a lot? Well that's the way it's done in the South.
I grew up having at least 2-3 sides.
I never realized this was a lot until Pepe questioned me for wanting to have beans, corn, potatoes and rolls with our grilled chicken!
Thank goodness I had a good metabolism growing up. ;)

My mama can cook!!! Truly!
If you haven't had green beans with fat back (if you don't know, don't ask) you don't know what your missing!

So what do you think? Sound yummy?
One guarantee it will all be fresh and completely homemade!

Meet

Carly aka sis, sissy, sistah, carlz & carlton (she hates this one) just to name a few!

She's my sister, maid of honor and very best friend.
We talk on average 3 times a day even when there is nothing to talk about!
We've been best buds ever since we were teeny tiny girls (with the exception of a few high school years when I was ever so jealous of her!).
I admire my sis!
Aside from being beautiful, she's smart, witty, incredibly funny, talented, and one of the most caring, thoughtful gals you'll ever meet!

Yesterday she told me she had me a surprise since I wasn't feeling well.
Today on her way to work she dropped me off my lil' gift.
It was a pair of sandals! They are so ME! I love them with all of my heart!
I plan to wear them as often as possible this summer!

Thank you sis
, not just for my present, but for being the best sister a girl could ever have!
I love you!

Weekend Update

Chapel Hill, you amaze me!
Yes friends, I've fallen in love with this pretty town where my best friend and bridesmaid, Chelsea, will be getting married.
We arrived on Friday evening at the beautiful Carolina Inn to a lawn full of peeps!
There was bluegrass, booze and southern food!
RIGHT UP MY ALLEY!
Can't wait to experience this place with all of Ted and Chelsea's friends and family!!!
Speaking of family, Chels' mom and sister booked us a room at the Inn! Incredibly sweet, right?
After checking in and changing we were ready to go!
After a drink at the hotel bar we headed to Sugarland!
Who says you can't have dessert before dinner? ;)

I would LOVE to own a place like this one day! It was so darling! They had cupcakes in so many yummy flavors, cheesecakes, cinnamon rolls, frozen martinis, gelato galore, you name it, they had it!
Can't wait to visit this place again!

After stuffing our faces (chips & salsa, fries & cheesesteaks @ 10pm)we were ready for some bar hopping!
Our night ended with us breaking it down on the dance floor, my favorite activity extracurricular activity! ;)
Oh and I should mention that I just HAD to have pizza when we got home.
So much so that I fell asleep waiting for the pizza that finally arrived around 3:30 am!
Cold pizza was breakfast the next morning, in case you were wondering.

Saturday afternoon was spent looking around the Carolina Inn.
How gorgeous is the courtyard where Ted and Chels will be married?

It has such an intimate feel to it!!!! Very, very pretty!

We then walked through the beautiful campus on our way to get lunch at BUNS!
Hands down best burger I've had!!!

After picking up ANOTHER cupcake it was time to head home. :(
I had such a good time in Chapel Hill that I may now root for the Tarheels, that is unless they're playing our beloved Hokies!

I then spent the rest of the weekend nursing what I thought was a hangover, but come Sunday morning (4am!) realized was either a brutal head cold or a sinus infection.
My darling Chels' is feelin' it too!
Well worth it though my dear, wasn't it?

Lastly, let me just say how much fun it is being engaged at the same time as a best friend!!! What I knew would already be such a special time in my life is even sweeter because of this.
Hopefully someday we'll be having lil' babies at the same time!
Oh and speaking of babies, this morning my sweet, sweet fiance said to me, "some day soon you'll be celebrating being a mommy on mother's day!" Made my morning!
xo's!

Mango Tree

So yeah, I'm still laying on the couch feeling like poo.

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm watching episode after episode of 'The Real Housewives of New Your City'.
Really? These people live these lives?

Anyhow, I came across this pretty song with it's even prettier video and it was just what I needed to put a smile on my face on this gloomy afternoon.
Enjoy!

*found via Black*Eiffel!

P.S.-I miss you P, come home now!

Icky!

I'm not feeling well my friends! :(
Felt a little icky since Saturday afternoon.
Woke up at 4 am last night,

throat on FIRE

head POUNDING

ears stopped up

basically I wanted to cut off my head!

Okay, I'm done with the pity party now!

I stayed home from work and am now on the couch with my buddy Tucker (he knows I'm sick and hasn't left my side) watching Food Network.

Weekend Update will have to wait until tomorrow because my trip with the gals to Chapel Hill was F A B U L O U S and in my current state I won't do it justice!

In the meantime, since I can't stand do be doing nothing, I'm online researching cookies for our Cookie Buffet! :)
Any suggestions? If you'll be a guest at the wedding tell me your favorite!

See you tomorrow pretties! Happy Monday!

Know where I'm going today?

With these two gorgeous ladies...
To the beautiful town of Chapel Hill, NC.
Can I just say I LOVE college towns...Blacksburg, Clemson, Chapel Hill! Some of the cutest places I've visited!
Bon Appetit Magazine hailed Chapel Hill as "America's Foodiest Small Town"!
As a gal who loves good food and great (especially southern) restaurants, they've definitely won me over!
While we are there we get to see this beautiful venue, The Carolina Inn, where Chelsea and Ted will be getting married on this very day next year :)

Found this lil' tid bit on Wikipedia Travel (love their site!):

"Chapel Hill, or at least the town center, indeed sits atop a hill which was originally occupied by a small Anglican "chapel of ease", built in 1752, known as New Hope Chapel. The Carolina Inn now occupies the site of the original chapel. In 1819, the town was founded to serve the University of North Carolina and grew up around it. The town was chartered in 1851, and its main street, Franklin Street, was named in memory of Benjamin Franklin."

Oh and while we are there Chels has assured me we can visit Sugarland, a bakery by day, martini bar by night! :)
Really? That's genius!

I plan to get one of everything!!!

SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS TRIP!!!
Hope you all have something sweet in store for your weekend!
xo's!
